Dear Friends & Family:
2016 and 2017 brought enormous changes for myself both personally and professionally.
I launched Evergreen Script Services at the very end of 2015 and began to grow my business, over the next year.
I started by simply offering freelance writing services - from resume's and professional bio's to social media management. By 2017, I had grown my business substantially and was expecting a modest increase in revenues.
But a funny thing began to happen. Associates began to approach me, asking - could I coach them? Can I demonstrate how storytelling could be used a professional asset? Did I know how to design websites?
The answer to those questions and more was 'Yes'. Maybe that growth I forecast, I thought, might be a little better than modest.
Yes. In fact, for personal reasons, I decided to make 2017 my year of "Yes". I accepted, I agreed, I accomodated during that year. I probably burned myself out a bit, during the process, but it was worth it.
I redefined my opinion of myself during my year of Yes. I had always thought I was lazy, unmotivated - now I simply know that isn't true. (Although I am a bit of a serial 'lounger' - I would have made a great Victorian lady!)
We are now just into 2018 and I didn't set any firm rules for myself this year. I simply want to remind myself that burn-out isn't productive and my personal interests must come before my professional goals. That includes my health and well-being, which often found themselves pushed to the back-burner last year.
As I move forward with my goals for Evergreen Script Services, I want to remind all of you (as well as myself) that first and foremost I am just a gal who loves stories and loves to write. My business will continue to grow but I'm also going to take time for myself and my own creative needs. I want to be inspired and motivated and I know that I am at peak performance when I'm feeling connected.
That's where all of you come in.
I don't know how to do this, but I'm going to take time off this coming year and spend that time with many of you. My plan is to take some time during the month of May 2018 as well as during the winter of 2018/2019, to visit with friends and family across the U.S.
I think I'll go up to the northeast in May.
I'm hoping to hit Detroit in October, for the MC5 50-year anniversary ("Kick Out the Jams, Motherf***ers!") show.
I may go to Phoenix/Scottsdale during the winter.
I don't know. I haven't quite figured out the logistics of tooling around with two chihuahuas and a meager bank account. But if anyone has a couch to spare (and doesn't mind the furbabies) please let me know.
I hope you all are well, happy, inspired and I hope to see some of you in the next 365 days...
